PRRC Chief Goitia bares PRRC accomplishments and 2022 Plans

Pasig River Rehabilitation Commission (PRRC) Executive Director Jose Antonio E. Goitia delivered his State of the Pasig River Address at the Asia Leaders Forum in Makati Shangrila Hotel that happened last December 14, 2017.
Exec. Dir. Goitia, who took oath before President Rodrigo R. Duterte last June 29, 2017, and had 25 years of public service experience under his belt in addition to his proven track record in business industry, highlighted the commission’s unprecedented achievements.
Few days before the forum, only in Duterte’s term that the BASECO and Napindan pig pens polluting the Pasig River with untreated animal wastes were raided and dismantled, a problem neglected for the past 19 years.
Almost 20,000 informal settler families living along the banks of the Pasig River and its tributaries were likewise relocated.
Private properties were also not exempted. To date, over 300 privately-owned structures encroaching the legal easements were dismantled at no expropriation cost to the Philippine Government.
In addition, PRRC transformed 14 polluted tributaries into environmental preservation areas with walkways, vegetable and herbal gardens, and solar lamps.
“Through strong implementation of projects and efforts that will help revive the Pasig River into a condition conducive for transport, recreation, and tourism,” he said.
“Together with PRRC and the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industries, we are able to bring together the country leaders and experts from both the private and government sectors to discuss what could be the future landscape of real estate based on statistics, research, and master plans,” said Tag Media’s Chief Operations Officer Grace B. Nicolas.
“Real estate is not just about buildings but also about technology, innovation, and environment like the Pasig River- the lifeline of our nation,” she further added.
“By 2022 and beyond, we expect that the properties near the Pasig River will rise in value, and that the people will enjoy hassle-free commute to the South with our dream Pasig River-Laguna de Bai multimodal express transportation,” concluded the PRRC chief.

The Manila Biennale: OPEN CITY 2018

The original biennial or that which is held every two years is the Venice Biennale. It's
an arts exposition that focuses on contemporary art and also includes events for art, dance, architecture, cinema and theater.

The Manila Biennale, the first of its kind in the Philippines, aims to transform the walled city of Intramuros into a public art exposition space. The Manila Biennale will start on Feb. 3 until March 5, 2018. The theme for the first Biennale will be " OPEN CITY " , as a homage to Intramuros and a memorial to the city's destruction in February 1945.

The Manila Biennale will be a month long art exposition set inside the walled city of Intramuros from February 3 to March 5, 2018. It will be a collaboration effort of Manila's arts and culture community and framed by the built heritage of Old Manila. The many gardens, plazas, museums, halls and chambers of the walled city will be transformed into artist residency studios, galleries, performance venues, lecture halls, pop - up shops, etc.

The theme OPEN CITY refers to Intramuros as the genesis of Manila's culture; a homage to the walled city's beginnings as a port for the Galleon Trade, a time when our capital opened itself up to the world and welcomed new ideas, products, and people. It will be a tribute to Manila's role in World War II, a vulnerable moment in December 1941 when Manila was cleared of all military presence and civilian run; a moment of freedom between two colonized periods of our history.

The Manila Biennale will be made more convenient and navigated by a passport. Owners of these #MNLBNL2018 passports will be citizens of the #OPENCITY. The passports can be bought starting December 1, 2017. #MNLBNL2018 citizens can purchase the passport online or at special retail spaces in Manila. They will receive an email receipt and number for proper documentation. Only one ( 1 ) passport per citizen and it is non - transferrable. Pre - selling of the Biennale Passport at PhP 3,850
will be from Dec. 1 to 25, 2017 and Php 5,300.00 thereafter.

This passport will allow the # mnlbnl2018 citizen access to sites, events, and experiences not available to the average visitor of Intramuros. Entrance to all of the #OPENCITY curated exposition spaces. Free electric Jeepney rides between all exhibition sites within Intramuros. Free entrance to all parks and museums of Intramuros and partner museums. VIP concierge services inside the VIP Lounge with Free Wifi and refreshments at the VIP Lounge. One ( 1 ) invitation to the Intramuros Artist Ball on February 21, 2018.
