_“Bagong Bansang Matatag: Handa sa Pagbabago ng Klima” Held at SMX Aura_
*TAGUIG CITY* — The *Climate Change Commission (CCC)* convened over 1,500 government officials, experts, and stakeholders today at the *SMX Aura Convention Center* for the *National Climate Resilience Forum 2026* with the theme *“Bagong Bansang Matatag: Handa sa Pagbabago ng Klima.”*
The forum aims to accelerate climate adaptation and disaster resilience efforts across the country amid intensifying climate impacts.
“_Climate change is no longer a distant threat. It is here. Our response must be immediate, inclusive, and science-based,_” a CCC official said during the opening.
*KEY HIGHLIGHTS:*
1. *National Adaptation Strategy* - Updates on the Philippine Adaptation Plan and local climate action integration
2. *LGUs as Frontliners* - Recognition of cities and municipalities leading in flood control, early warning, and climate-smart agriculture
3. *Green Economy & Just Transition* - Panel on creating green jobs while shifting to renewable energy
4. *Climate Financing* - Discussion on accessing local and international funds for resilience projects
5. *Innovation Exhibit* - Showcase of climate tech, resilient infrastructure, and community solutions
Attendees included Secretaries from *DENR, DILG, DA, DPWH, DSWD*, governors, mayors, representatives from *UN, ADB, World Bank*, academe, private sector, and youth leaders.
The forum concluded with the signing of the *“Manila Bay to Mountains Pledge”* — a collective commitment by LGUs and agencies to strengthen local resilience programs.
The CCC emphasized that building a *“Bagong Bansang Matatag”* requires whole-of-government and whole-of-society action.
About CCC: The Climate Change Commission is the lead policy-making body of the government on climate change. It coordinates, monitors, and evaluates programs and actions related to climate change.
