RA 11058, Vision 1 Million, Philippine OSH situation, emerging safety and health risks, best OSH practices and strategies, OSH in mining industry top bill the 16th National Occupational Safety and Health Congress

Government officials, workers' unions, employers' group, safety and health experts from various industries, professional groups, and occupational safety and health networks ( OSHNets ), will be sharing their researches and strategies on improving worker protection in the 15th National Occupational Safety and Health ( NOSH ) Congress today.

With the theme "Be an OSH Champion: Vision 1 Million", the 16th NOSH Congress centers on Vision 1 Million Program of the Occupational Safety and Health Center   OSHC which aims to develop a million OSH champions actoss the country.

The Congress will also feature a discussion on landmark developments in the OSH advocacy such as the RA 11058 or "An Act Strengthening Compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Standards and Providing Penalties for Violations Thereof".

More than 1,000 participants are ecpected to attend this two day event. There will be three plenary sessions that will feature OSH solutions, strengthening OSH in workplaces, and advancing OSH advocacy through partnership.

A wide range of topics from current state of OSH in the Philippines, development of OSH knowledge, emerging safety and health risks, reducing the impact of illnesses and injuries, total worker health and safety, OSH in the mining industry, boosting OSH systems for better results, workplace compliance tools and resources, strategies for safer and healthier workplaces, will be discussed in nine simultaneous sessions.

The NOSH Congress is a biennial activity spearheaded by the OSHC, an attached agency of the DOLE.

Beginning in 1990, it has since served as a means to generate and exchange essential information on work safety and health.

Para Kay Manong Toda Forum and Press Conference

On November 22, 2018 from 5:30PM to 9PM, The Madrigal Foundation headed by Ms. Patricia Madrigal with its partners will launch “Para Kay Manong Toda,” an Advocacy campaign to help our marginalise tricycle drivers to help them alleviate their lives by being heard through forums, seminars and press conferences by inviting government officials and private sectors as panelist’s and speakers. That way, the Foundation is hoping that at least some of their needs will be heard by means of these awareness programs.

The “Para Kay Manong Toda” aids the well being of the marginalised tricycle drivers. Most of the tricycle drivers are head of the family and works 7 days a week to support their loved ones, without health insurance and most doesn’t receive benefits from the government. These modern day heroes are exposed to pollution and environmental hazards daily.

One of the program under this project is to seek help to focus on their working and medical conditions. In this way, these heroes can continue helping their families and the society as well giving good and safe transportation to those in need. Philippines dominated the stage after winning 8 out of 21 awards during the  ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) 2018 held last November 12, 2018 in Singapore. Building Tomorrow's Transportation Infrastructure Today: IRF Opens Innovation-Centric Global Road Conference

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, November 7, 2018 - A global summit of road mobility thought-leaders and innovators has opened today in Las Vegas, Nevada at the invitation of the International Road Federation (IRF).

 

Nevada DOT Director Rudy Malfabon, ASCE President 2018 Kristina Swallow, AASHTO Executive Director Bud Wright, Dubai Traffic & Roads Agency CEO Eng. Maitha bin Adai, Bechtel Engineering Operations Manager Steven Curtis and Jacobs Highway/Bridge Director Susan Martinovich figure among 200 leading international specialists who will be sharing best practices, research findings, case studies, and though-provoking ideas during the three-day event.

 

The IRF Global R2T Conference & Expo is articulated around policy roundtables, scientific sessions, and the presentation of signature initiatives all aimed at setting an ambitious strategic agenda for 21st century road mobility.

IRF Announces Winners of 2018 Global Road Achievement Awards

LAS VEGAS, Nevada, November 7, 2018 - The International Road Federation has announced the winners of the 2018 IRF Global Road Achievement Awards during the IRF Global R2T Conference & Expo.

 

This year, the IRF honors 11 projects from around the world, each leading the way in innovation across major road & highway disciplines. The selection was made by an international panel of senior road development specialists.

 

"As an industry, we understand the importance of setting a long term agenda for our research activities and capital investments" said IRF Chairman Abdullah Al-Mogbel. "By promoting innovations and the successes in our industry, we can provide a forward-looking road map for others to follow".
