 Philippines dominated the stage after winning 8 out of 21 awards during the ASEAN Business Awards (ABA) 2018 held last November 12, 2018 in Singapore. Philippines also sent more than 100 nominees out of the total 280 aspirants across the ASEAN region. Eight Philippine finalists made it to the spotlight as they bagged awards in different categories. Awardees include: Pioneer Adhesives, Inc. for Priority Integration Sector (Automotive) received by John Spakowski II; Seaoil Philippines, Inc. for Priority Integration Sector (Energy) received by Francis Glenn Yu; Jollibee Foods Corporation for Priority Integration Sector (Food and Beverage) received by Joseph Tanbuntiong; International Container Terminal Services Inc. for Priority Integration Sector (Logistics)received by Arthur Tabuena; Wilcon Depot, Inc. for Priority Integration Sector (Retail) received by William Belo; CARD MRI for Sustainable Social Enterprise received by Flordeliza Sarmiento; and Coffee for Peace Inc. for SME Excellence Corporate Social Responsibility. Century Pacific Food Inc. also bagged the grand award for family businesses. Ricardo Po Sr., founder and chairman emeritus received the award for the family and the company. “Philippines bagged eight out of 21 top awards. The momentum in entrepreneurship development is moving at a much faster phase with the help of government. Still a long way to go but with the alliance of the business organizations and chambers we will succeed.” ASEAN Business Advisory Council PH chair Joey Concepcion highlighted. Launched in 2007 by ASEAN Business Advisory Council, ABA acknowledges and recognizes outstanding ASEAN businesses that have shown significant progress in establishing the industry in the vast ASEAN region. This 2018, 21 business industry and icons were lauded and also given the opportunity to garner greater exposure and expand their network within the ASEAN business community and the global stage. The Awards Gala Dinner was graced by Mdm Halimah Yacob, President of the Republic of Singapore and His Excellency Mahathir bin Mohamad, Prime Minister of the Federation of Malaysia.
