NRDC 2019: Creating a hub for invention and technology commercialization


The Department of Science and Technology
DOST held April 3, 2019 the 4th National Research and Development Conference NRDC2019 at the Philippine International Convention Center ( PICC ), CCP Complex in Pasay City. The theme of the NRDC 2019 is:
" Harmonized R&D Towards Accelerated Growth and Prosperity . "  The event showcased the significant research and development efforts of government agencies in health, agriculture, industry, disaster risk reduction and climate change adaptation and basic research by Filipino scientists and engineers.

NRDC 2019 aims to bring to the public the products/results of R&D funded by all the government funding agencies such as Commission on Higher Education ( CHED ),
Department of Agriculture ( DA ), Department of Environment and Natural Resources ( DENR ), Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), Department of National Defense (DND), Department of Energy (DOE), Department of Health (DOH), and Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and DOST. The event highlighted the importance of technology transfer to ensure that research and development results would contribute to social and economic development.

" I am very pleased that the other government funding agencies have joined us in organizing this event," said DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Pena. " Banking on the goals of AmbisyonNatin 2040, the NRDC 2019, clearly signifies the willingness and readiness of those of us in the government to work together in stimulating the country's
progress and accelerating development. We also recognize the support of our partners from the academe and private sector in pursuing this worthwhile endeavor."

Through the NRDC, the research and development efforts of government institutions in collaboration with universities and research and development institutions are given the opportunity to convene and harmonize their shared objectives to ensure effective implementation and maximize benefit to the Filipino people.
