Fourth Year Anniversary of Kiwanis Club of Malate West celebrated with scholars




Sr. Dinh Tuong Van, Local Superior of the Sisters of Our Lady of Calvary welcomed Kiwanis Club of Malate West (KCMW) Board Member Evelina M. Tan of The Child's World, A Growing Center, on 29 April 2023. SpEd Teacher Evelina tested 6 special children, then had a session with them, so also with their parents and the teachers.


Sr. Van's congregation runs the Learning Institute of St. Augustine, Inc. (LISA, Inc.) at Mahogany Street, Payatas B, Quezon City, catering to special children, with a community formation in Fairview for regular students. 




Last Saturday, too, fifteen Grade 12 students vying for scholarship were psychologically tested by KCMW Past President Lorna B. Ballesteros. They were referred by Brazilian Sr. Maria Dutra, Coordinator of the Building the Future Together (BFT) Scholarship Program. They receive funds from all over the world so their recipients can enroll in any school offering their intended course..




Founded in France 1833 by Fr. Pierre Bonhomme (significantly meaning "good man"), the Sisters of Our Lady of Calvary attend to the needs of the elderly, the sick and the deaf as well. They are presently serving in France, Brasil, Argentina, Paraguay, Ivory Coast, Guinea, and the Philippines starting 1999. Fr. Pierre was beatified in Rome on 23 March 2003.


Kiwanis Club of Malate West is under Kiwanis International, Philippine Luzon District, Division 3A headed by Lieutenant Governor Grace Bondad Nicolas is committed to serve children in  other communities requiring psychological assessment and counseling, in celebration of her 4th anniversary this year.
