AstraZeneca’s Country President Lotis Ramin at ALA 2022

Lotis Ramin, Country President of AstraZeneca Philippines—the seventh largest ethical multinational pharmaceutical company in the country—returns to Asia Leaders Awards 2022, continuing its streak as an outstanding company that prioritized health and lives during the most difficult times of the global economy.

Asia Leaders Awards is only the recognition giving body whose awards committee is composed of respected leaders from different chambers, organizations, and embassies like the Embassy of Singapore, the Embassy of Poland, and the Korean Council among others.

ALA 2022 Awarding Ceremonies will be on November 22, 2022.

Committing to Saving Lives

“Our commitment is for AstraZeneca doses to help save lives and prevent hospitalization through the government’s primary dose and booster program and with the rise of the super contagious Omicron variant,” shared AstraZeneca Country President Lotis Ramin.

Indeed, AstraZeneca has delivered a ballpark of 40 million vaccine shots in coordination with all sectors, from government to private to COVAX facilities.

AstraZeneca is a global leader in innovating, developing, and distributing medicines for treating and managing cancer, infection, and inflammation as well as heart, gastrointestinal, kidney, metabolic, and respiratory conditions, and, most especially, COVID-19 vaccines.

Combining Brave Strength and New Happiness

Thus, AstraZeneca Philippine’s melding of innovation, global reach, and science-led practices embodies ALA 2022’s theme of brave strength and new happiness: The Year of the Water Tiger combined with the happiness and warmth of Very Peri, Pantone’s Color of the Year.

“This combination of bravery, strength, newness, and happiness is what symbolizes the changes and the difference the world is experiencing as we look to move beyond the isolation and uncertainty of the pandemic,” explained Engineer Grace Bondad Nicolas, the power behind the ALA Board.

Who Conceived the Rising Tigers Magazine?

Indefatigable Media Maven Grace Bondad Nicolas: Publisher and Managing Director of Business Magazine "Rising Tigers: Nation Builders" Engineer Grace Bondad Nicolas—the woman behind successful shows, an unparalleled civic and multiplatform leader, and adviser to billionaires—assumed the top post as Publisher and Managing Director of business and lifestyle magazine "Rising Tigers: Nation Builders."

This new publishing milestone, another brainchild of the Asia Leaders Awards (ALA) Committee and TAG Media Group, will be launched on March 22, 20221 at the Bonifacio Global City in Taguig with the banner story, "Top 50 Rising Tigers in the Asia Pacific."

The magazine will feature the best and the brightest in the Philippines and in Southeast Asia, even in the whole of the Asia Pacific region, who never fail to balance commitment to growth and corporate social responsibility, even during the most trying times.

In November 2021, she launched ALA's first coffee-table book, Profiles of Excellence, at the Embassy of Singapore in the Philippines during the ultra-exclusive awarding ceremonies.

Rocking Metro Manila's Events Landscape

As if publishing a triannual magazine of business leaders is not enough, Engineer Nicolas, also a business writer for The Manila Times, recently launched the Beauty Industry Awards, to recognize and award the Philippines' top beauty companies, leaders, and movers and shakers.

This would serve as the third diamond on her crown of mega-events for 2022, on top of Rising Tigers: Nation Builders and Asia Leaders Awards.

Indeed, the tireless supporter of all things productive, helpful, and socially responsible, Engineer Nicolas not only founded and judged Asia Leaders Awards, she was also the brains behind TAG Media Group—composed of TAG Media and Public Relations, AG Builders and Developers, and AAA Cosmetics and Trading Company—the team behind ALA and other successful shows.

TAG Media and Public Relations is the force behind Asia Leaders Forum, Asia’s Best Singing Competition, Asia Digital Marketing Expo, Asia HR Expo, Asia E-commerce Expo, Dwelo, and Pandemic Heroes Online Series in partnership with The Manila Times.

Making Waves Among Sociocivic Circles

Engineer Nicolas, a tireless achiever with a vast network of influence and organizational magic, has also recently been tapped by Kiwanis International to be its Events Director for its upcoming Asia Pacific Convention in April, while concurrently serving as the Lieutenant-Governor-Elect for Division 3A (Metro Manila) of the Kiwanis Philippine Luzon District.

She had likewise recently been elected Vice President for External Affairs by the Los Banos Chamber of Commerce and Industries (LBCCI) and is Vice President of the Makati Tourism Foundation.

Famously, Engineer Nicolas is recognized among business circles for making history as the first lady head honcho of the American Association of the Philippines (AAP) since its establishment 73 years ago to help Americans, Filipino Americans, and indigent Filipinos.

Chilling Out with Multimillion Peso Plants

Engineer Nicolas, fondly known as Gorgeous Grace by the HappeningPH community, however, has a more laid-back side to her very public high-society life as founder and proprietor of eco-tourism destination Hidden Hills Farm by Josefino.

Now a certified plantpreneur who recently completed her wishlist of million-peso-worth rare plants, she honors the memory and inspiration of her father, Josefino Bondad, by running their fruit and ornamentals farm and food destination in Calauan, Laguna.

“In this crisis, it’s your time to prove your worth and make a difference. Even while in lockdown, you can still do something productive and be of help to others by sharing your blessings,” she said, encouraging everyone to follow her lead.

Nicolas, who holds both a BS in Industrial Engineering and took an MM in Engineering Management from Colegio de San Juan de Letran attended also programs in Entrepreneurship and Marketing at Asian Institute of Management and Ateneo with a Social Media Management training in Malaysia.

An Accolade for Vanessa Verzosa from Rising Tigers in Asia Pacific

One of the Founders and Producer of TV8 Media Productions, Ms. Vanessa Verzosa, will be honored during the launch of business and lifestyle magazine Rising Tigers: Nation Builders as one of the featured individual among its Top 50 Rising Tigers in the Asia Pacific.

TV8 Media Productions is an independent production company based in the Philippines established and managed by experienced media practitioners, headed by Ms. Vanessa Verzosa.

Ms. Verzosa has been a block time producer since 2017. From only a manpower of 3, her group has grown into 8 (the reason behind the name TV8). And with the continued support and trust from their satisfied clients, now they have grown working collaboratively with almost 40 production staff.

“Being a block time producer is no easy job. Sometimes you gain, sometimes you lose. But you cannot just give up. It’s the feeling of fulfillment that keeps us going” Verzosa said.

TV8 produces quality video contents for local and international viewing. They currently have two regular shows both being aired on CNN, Business Matters and I Heart PH, a lifestyle show.

Why Business matters

Business Matters is the Philippines’ first-ever TV documentary that examines the inspiring practice of corporate citizenship among local companies who have made improving the lives of Filipinos their business. It highlights stories about the synergies made by key business players in order to create a positive difference in society today.

“We cover businesses that matter. We feature the good things, the good deeds that these companies are doing. We want people to know that these businesses do not mean business only, they also care. They matter to the lives of the many people who they were able to help through their various CSR initiatives.”  says Ms Verzosa. Business Matters airs Saturdays on CNN Philippines.

Vanessa of Rated K

Vanessa Verzosa, a BS Human Ecology graduate from the University of the Philippines, started her career at ABS-CBN. She worked for various shows like Sharon, VIP Pass, Cinema One, Bet on your Baby but it was working with Ms. Korina Sanchez of Rated K where she gained her extensive TV productions experience.

As Rated K’s researcher, she focused on finding odd but meaningful projects. She loved the extra-ordinaries, going to far-flung, hard to reach areas of the Philippines, to dig stories worthy for the viewing public to know. She became the Head researcher of the show and because of the connections she was able to build with her very straightforward style of dealing with people, she became the show’s Production Coordinator. From here, she became well known to many clients as the “Vanessa of Rated K.”

Not just an ordinary TV Media Production group

“TV8 was established not just to make money, but to share stories of life, inspiration and hope,”  Ms. Vanessa added.

Focusing on 2 shows for now, bringing the lighter side of the world thru “I Heart PH” and the more serious ones thru “Business matters,” Ms. Vanessa concluded saying, “We want to tell the people there are good stories, and there is hope. Behind every business is a heart that cares. The impact of our program to the people we have helped by bridging businesses to communities to do CSR projects is huge and remarkable. It’s life-changing“
