CAMAYAN BEACH RESORT " An Interlude with Nature "

Feeling the heat of the onset of an early summer,  what an appropriate timing for this invitation for a getaway in Camayan beach resort at Subic Bay Philippines. Travelling with wanderlusts friends in a bus half empty was so comfortable and restful.
As the bus stopover in food outlets, vendors board inside offering refreshment, fruits and all sorts of goods for sale.
I decided to buy some oranges to satiate our tummies.

At the designated terminal in Olongapo City Jaebi Murillo Digital Marketing Supervisor, with Arjay De Guzman of Camayan Beach Resort met us to bring us to our much awaited destination.
Upon arrival at the beach entrance refreshing drinks of a thirst quenching concoction, in a very decorative glass was offered and cocktails were laid out in a very appetizing set up. The Executive Chef Emmar Nuevo and friendly staffs were all very hospitable and accommodating to give us a warm welcome. Here we experienced communing with the ocean, feeding the fishes was such an enjoyable activity wherein pieces of bread were thrown into the school of   " banak " and " samaral " and one can witness the fishes swimming to get their food, such a lovely sight.

Then we were ushered into  the airconditioned  Seahorse function room in time for the main course for lunch. An array of dishes was one by one served into our table starting from seafood chowder soup which is one of my favorite, kare kare a specialty dish of my mom;  pinakbet with lechon kawali on top, crispy pata, sauteed vegetables, bullalo, lechon kawali, grilled pink salmon, the arrival of different dishes seemed to be endless. Leo Laverio and Christine Gotocano dining supervisors were hands full making sure that everyone were enjoying their meal. A variety of fruits, cakes desserts was a delight to pallete. Our table wasn't able to contain the overflowing and sumptuous feasts.

After indulging in the extraordinary lunch, we're so full, that checking in the hotel is much anticipated. The room is native inspired using banig as headboard and the high ceiling making the space charming, comfortable and stylish.
A little siesta rejuvinated our body that it's time to pay homage to the enchanting waves of the crystal clear water, unending beaches, sunshine and a chance to cool off and play with the rolling ocean as it embraces my entire body with it's salty spray and dazzling sound.

As dinner approaches we dressed up for this occasion. The buffet was specially arranged at The Reef at the beach front, with red carpet for us to walked on. The sounds and splash of the waves is so relaxing, so sweet to the ears that it calms your soul.

The next day we made it a point to wake up early to savor our interlude with the impressive view of the surroundings. The veranda outside our room have a magnificent seaview offering perfect combination of warmth and wind against your hair. On our way to our breakfast we encountered monkeys roaming around, there should be total harmony with local wildlife and the surrounding ecosystem. Signages are posted reminding guests not to feed the monkeys and not to stay close with them, because they might bite and ran after you.

At the breakfast buffet, Chef is on hand to prepare our omellette, I ordered fillings of mushrooms, red pepper, cheese, white onions ...kudos and muchas gracias to all personnel of Camayan beach resort for making our stay treasured memories. The day is not yet over cause we have to proceed to  Ocean Adventure Park! That's another page to tell.

To those who want to retreat from the hectic City Life, Camayan Beach Resort is the place to be! The abundant afforestation, blissful serene sanctuary, offering simple luxury in unity with nature at a tropical living. Wordly cares can be forgotten revitilazing your body and soul.

A heartfelt thanks to the Camayan Resort Personnels for their 6stars ****** " Filipino Hospitality " and accommodations!

32nd Caracol 2018 @Makati

A Festivity for Mother Nature....come and join this celebration for a worthy cause. Be counted and at the same time, learn and enjoy!

Makati City will hold this year’s Caracol Festival tomorrow, Sunday, February 25 at theGlobe Circuit Events Grounds in Barangay Carmona, starting at 4pm, according to the cityMuseum and Cultural Affairs Office (MCAO).

Makati Mayor Abby Binay urged the public to come and take part in the revelry which highlights the beauty of nature and the importance of conserving and protecting our natural resources.

Mayor Abby said...
Caracol, now on its 32nd year, is a significant annual event for Makati. It serves as a constant reminder to our people, especially the young ones, that despite our highly urbanized landscape, we must strive to take care of the environment because our lives and our future depend on it.
The mayor emphasized that even as the city government has resolved to embrace technology and has taken major steps towards a “digital Makati”, it remains firmly grounded on its commitment to remain at the forefront of global efforts to promote sustainable and highly resilient communities.

Mayor Abby added:
Caracol Festival is not a mere display of merriment, but an effective tool to heighten public awareness on the urgency of getting our acts together to heal the earth, and to motivate residents and visitors alike into taking an active role in building a healthy and sustainable environment.
A Spanish term for snailCaracol alludes to the shell people use as shields to life’s harsh realities. During the festival, revelers are encouraged to discard their “shells” and join in the merrymaking and to rejoice in the bounty of Mother Earth.

Mayor Abby also thanked the city’s constant partners in the private sector through the years for consistently supporting the event, namely,Ayala Land, Circuit Makati, Manila Bulletin, and Make it Makati.

The MCAO has confirmed that the festival will start with a parade of participants, barangay officials and residents, city employees, private sector representatives, senior citizens, and students at 4pm, which will be followed by a dance competition.

This year’s highlight will be a dance competition wherein participants are expected to showcase a creative interpretation of different environmental issues.

The competition is divided into three clusters:elementary schools, high schools, and Barangays. For each group, some 30-40 members, excluding musicians and props men, will be performing. For this year, three elementary schools will give their visual interpretation of Endangered Species and dance to the tune of retro or pop, namely, Pitogo Elementary School, Nicanor Garcia Elementary School, and San Antonio Village Elementary School.

Meanwhile, high school students from San Antonio National High School, Makati Science High School and Pitogo High School will perform either Waltz or ballet, clad in flower or insect-inspired costumes. On the other hand, there will be six groups of performers from the Barangays who will imitate marine lifewhile ballroom dancing.

Prizes at stake for each category are as follows: First Place, P150,000 cash prize; Second Place, P125,000; and Third Place, P100,000.

The overall champion will receive P150,000 cash prize.

Special awards will also be given away for Best in Costume and Best in Choreography, with a P50,000-cash prize for each award.

Contestants will be judged according toappearance, creativity in putting the spirit of the festival into performance, originality of design, and actual dance routine performance.

During the parade, judges will choose three winners for Best in Costume, with P50,000 cash prize for first place, P40,000 for second place, and P30,000 for third place.

A separate competition will also be held amongprofessional photographers who will successfully publish their best shots in print media. The Best Photo will win a cash prize of P25,000, while the first and second runners-up will receive P15,000 and P10,000, respectively.

The Caracol Festival is the official festival of Makati City. It is observed every last Sunday of February.

The original concept of the festival was the presentation of three major festivals of the country. In its first eight years, Metro Manila talent groups of SinulogDinagyang and Ati-Atihan were staged in one major event competing for awards. In 1993, to support the global call for the preservation and conservation of our natural resources, a new theme was created and evolved into today’s festivity which mirrors the beauty and bounty of Mother Nature.

Celebrate Everything Furry at FurryPinas 2018

Do you know what a Furry is?  Well, if you have seen movies like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Zootopia, The Lion King, shows such as My Little Pony, or anime such as Pokemon then you might have an idea. FurryPinas 2018, happening on May 19-20 at the SMX Convention Center, is a celebration of everything furry. The convention’s vision is to serve as the annual hub for furry or anthropomorphic media.

FurryPinas 2018 will be the first ever furry convention open to the public, after its first event in 2014. Holding the record as being the first furry convention in Southeast Asia, FurryPinas is the official and only furry convention in the Philippines.

What is the Furry Hobby?

Furry is not only a fandom, but also a hobby.  If you enjoy looking at personified animals in different forms of media be it movies, TV shows, anime, comics, etc., then you are part of the Furry hobby. Some examples of animal characters would include famous characters like Mickey Mouse, Bugs Bunny, Woody Woodpecker, and many more.

Most of the communities involved in the Furry Hobby had been established long ago.  Take for example Sylvanian Families, one of the most popular toys in the market which has existed since 1985. Made by the Japanese gaming company Epoch in 1985, Sylvanian Families is a collection of anthropomorphic animal figurines and model sets. Distributed around the world, they have become so popular that there is a growing community here in the Philippines, one that remains strong to this day.

Other communities such as a fanbase for Pokemon have been very lively since the countless adorable critters have been popping out not only in our gaming consoles, but also in our phones, in the form of Pokemon Go. It is not uncommon to see someone throwing virtual Pokeballs at a virtual Pokemon while walking.

Why would you attend FurryPinas 2018?

It is one of the most unique conventions happening this 2018. If you will be attending, then you are among the first to experience this one of a kind event.  Despite being such a unique event, the tickets are also affordable with the basic entry level ticket costing at Php 115 inclusive of a lanyard and a con ID badge (early bird).

That’s not all! Anyone who purchases a ticket will surely get freebies during the event.  FurryPinas 2018 recognizes everyone who supports the event, no matter the type of ticket they buy, but do remember that greater freebies are in store for those who want more.

If you are an artist, designer, cosplayer, a fan of movies, shows, toys, and other content featuring anthro or humanized animals then you would not want to miss this.  This event will bring you various activities and features which you will surely love!

What happens at FurryPinas 2018?

FurryPinas 2018 brings two huge guests in the Furry Hobby.  First is Pocari Roo, an Australian furry fan and full-time YouTuber with over 100 videos on her channel and over 50,000 subscribers. She is primarily known for her Youtube channel where she does vlogs, music videos, how-tos, Q&As, and more, with a family friendly rating and a primary focus on being positive, entertaining, and helpful.

Bapogichi is also guesting at FurryPinas 2018.  A fan of the furry hobby with over 40,000 followers, Bapogichi is a popular illustrator known for his various fanart of anime, webcomics, cartoons, and video games. Bapogichi is one of the moderators of the popular Buhay Kolehiyo that features personified versions of different universities in the Philippines.

Of course, the event reserves tons of interactive activities for all attendees, including talks and seminars relating to the Furry Hobby, an area to play different video games from retro to modern games and tabletop games, various contests on and off the stage, and dances and performances, among others.

One highlight of FurryPinas 2018 includes the Furry Rave Party, happening at the very end of the con, which is a celebration for all Furry Hobbyist to enjoy. Also, don’t forget the dealers den, tavern area, carnival area, and many more!

So mark your calendars on May 19-20, and let’s all go to FurryPinas 2018!
